The Entry/Exit System (EES) is an automated IT system designed to electronically register travellers who are not citizens of the European Union, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Iceland, or Norway each time they cross the external borders of the Schengen Area for a short stay. A short stay is defined as a stay of up to 90 days within any 180‑day period.
