Alumni networking event
On 11 June 2026, the Embassy of Switzerland in London hosted its annual networking event for Swiss university alumni and students.
The guest of honour and keynote speaker at this year’s event was Professor Mark Thomson, Director General of CERN – the European Laboratory for Particle Physics in Geneva. Professor Thomson delivered an inspiring address on the role of CERN in international scientific cooperation – a compelling illustration of what nations can achieve when they unite around a shared commitment to discovery and knowledge.
Switzerland takes great pride in being one of CERN’s two host countries, alongside France, and in having supported the Organisation since its founding in 1954. Today, CERN unites researchers from over 110 nationalities, standing as a powerful testament to the ability of science to build bridges across cultures, nations, and generations.
